Installation guidelines
INSTALLATION
Tile installation is a straightforward process that requires foundational knowledge, practical understanding, and an appreciation for aesthetics. A skilled installer encompasses all these qualities. Here are some simple tips to help facilitate an installation of Quemere Designs materials.
Tiles are usually installed on a stable, flat surface made of diverse materials. Attachment to the substrate is secured using a suitable adhesive (ThinSet), adhering to both manufacturer and TCNA guidelines. Following installation, joints are filled with the appropriate grout, and expansion joints undergo sealing.
Upon completion, the tile installation is seen as a cohesive system with Substrate, Adhesive, Tiles, Grout, and Sealant working harmoniously. The substrate bonds to the support structure, facilitating the transmission of structural movements throughout the system. Expansion joints serve as insulation, facilitating movement while preventing stress.
In the USA, wooden supports are common in support structures, known for their high deformability, especially in new constructions and due to seasonal climate variations. This can pose challenges during installation.
We strongly suggest that all products used during installation come from the same supplier as often products from different suppliers may seem similar, but are not compatible.
